Manchester offers something for everyone. The city has an interesting history and has an extensive selection of ancient relics to view. Manchester also has an exciting nightlife and an excellent music scene.

Manchester’s night scene attracts many visitors to the city. The area of Castlefield is full of cafés and bars. You can find a very diverse crowd and plenty of bars and clubs at The Gay Village, based around Canal Street.

The root of Manchester can be found in the reconstructed Roman fort in the centre of Castlefield. This is where the city was founded in 79AD. There are several good museums to visit, including the Museum of Science and Technology and the Museum of British Aerospace.

Gothic architecture is abundant. The Town Hall in Albert Square and three of the universities in town are just some examples. There are a total of six universities in the city, which accounts for some of the eventful nightlife. For theatre lovers, The Royal Exchange and The Palace Theatre host excellent plays, concerts and musicals throughout the year, while Bridgewater Hall is home to the city's famed Hallé Orchestra. Manchester’s Chinatown is the largest in Britain and offers a fantastic dining and shopping experience.

There are numerous attractions outside Manchester that can be reached by car. Salford Quays is located less than 5 kms outside Manchester and is where you can find theatres, galleries and exhibition centres. Quarry Bank Mill is excellent for the whole family. The mill is an 18^th century cotton mill museum in Wilmslow. There are also two national parks nearby, Styal Woods and Dunham Massey Reserve.

The city has good public transportation options including buses, taxis and trains. Manchester International Airport is about 15kms from the city centre. You can hire a car in the airport or at various locations around the city. The airport has regular flights to all major European cities.
