Luton

Luton is centrally located with easy access to London, Oxford and Cambridge. It is culturally diverse with a variety of activities available. Pubs, bars and restaurants are plentiful.

The city is in very close proximity to the countryside and is surrounded by the beautiful hills of the Chilterns. There are plenty of places to relax, with several parks and gardens to enjoy.

Woodside Wild Fowl Park boasts an abundance of different kinds of birds all year round. The stunning Wardown Park is Victorian in character and has the Lea River running through it. Stockwood Park is a vast open area where many events such as sports activities, circuses and fun fairs are held. Historical sites nearby include Someries Castle, which was one of the first brick buildings in the UK, and St Mary’s Church, which dates back to the Middle Ages.

Woodside Animal Farm makes for an excellent family day out. There are plenty of farm and zoo animals to see and other fun activities like tractor rides and a paddling pool. The Galaxy centre is another attraction with various activities available for the whole family to enjoy. There are some excellent museums including Wardown Park Museum (formerly Luton Museum and Gallery) displaying archaeological and historical artefacts and exhibits that show the stories of Luton people over the past 150 years. The Stockwood Craft Museum displays scenes from Bedfordshire’s rural life. Luton also has some golf courses, breweries and theatres to visit.

Luton is 33 miles north of central London, making it far enough away to escape the chaos, but close enough to visit the wealth of attractions that London has to offer. The historic town of Bedford is a short drive north of Luton and features beautiful river walks and handicraft shopping. The Chilterns offer unspoilt natural beauty, with rolling hills, valleys and charming brick and flint villages.
