London South

South London is a culmination of boroughs south of the River Thames that have some beautiful parks and gardens, great shopping venues and many historical landmarks. There is a wealth of interesting sights to see and places to visit.

South London has some beautiful parks. You might forget you’re even in a city when you’re strolling through one of the numerous parks. Clapham Common is one example. The Common is 220 acres of green space and is as diverse as it is vast. In the summer, it is packed with kite flyers, joggers, cyclists and children. Also famed for its music gigs and festivals, it is a vibrant destination and is one of the most popular spaces in South London. Other notable parks include Battersea Park, Wandsworth Common and St George’s Park.

South London is loaded with historical interest. The South Bank of the Thames in central London has the London Eye, Lambeth Palace, the Tate Modern Gallery, the Saatchi Collection of Contemporary Art, The Globe Theatre, Battersea Power Station and Battersea Park.

Kew Gardens is a leading centre of botanical research and a training ground for professional gardeners. It is also an extremely popular visitor attraction. The gardens are quite informal. There are extensive conservatories, a herbarium, and a library also on offer.

South London is also well known for being home to Wimbledon, where the tennis championships are held, and Greenwich, which is famed for being the place through which the zero degree Meridian passes. It also home to the Maritime Museum and the Cutty Sark.

There are many attractions to see outside of London. These can be travelled to with ease by car. The sights include the Poverest Road Roman Bath-House and Anglo Saxon Cemetery in Bromley, High Elms Country Park and Crystal Palace Park.
