London Gatwick International Airport North Terminal (LGW)It may be Britain’s second busiest airport, but London Gatwick seems a lot less frenetic than its larger neighbour, Heathrow. Its two large terminals service over 30 million passengers each year to over 200 British, European, Transatlantic and African destinations.
The airport’s two terminals, the North and South terminals, are connected by a monorail. The North Terminal has separate arrival lounges for its domestic and international flights on the ground floor. The Departures Lounge, serving more than 70 airlines, is located on the first floor.
The North Terminal has a wide range of amenities, including ATMs, exchange bureaus, retail shops, newsagents and duty-free outlets in the Departures Area. A baby’s changing room, first aid centre and airport information desk can also be found in the terminal and basic postal services are available. The terminal has several dining choices, from fast food and coffee shops to sushi and sit-down restaurants.
Business class travellers will appreciate the Fast Track priority service and the comprehensive business facilities available at the nearby Le Meridien London Gatwick Hotel (+44 1293 567 070) and London Gatwick Hilton Hotel (+44 1293 518 080). Aviance and Servisair Lounges provide relaxation and basic business facilities for a small fee. The airport is fully accessible for disabled travellers, including wheelchair access lifts, lowered toilets and special transport assistance around the terminals.
