OrlandoOrlando is centred on entertainment. The city is fully geared towards family fun, which is shared by millions of tourists worldwide. Within the city of Orlando, theme parks are the main attraction, but outside the city there are many diverse sights to see. The most popular theme park is Walt Disney World. This enormous area is actually comprised of three parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney-MGM Studio. Most people take several days to enjoy all of the fun and excitement on offer here as there is too much for just a one-day trip. Another popular attraction is Universal Studios, which dedicated to the movies. There are many entertaining shows and rides to choose from, all of which are based on some of the best-loved films in the industry. SeaWorld is completely different from the other theme parks. Here, visitors can experience marine mammals close up. Shows include performing dolphins, sea lions and killer whales. If you are looking for a change to the theme parks, there are many other sights on offer. Harry P Leu Gardens is an estate with over 2,000 varieties of camellia and an 18th century mansion. The Orlando Museum of Art presents local, national and international art exhibitions as well as providing educational programs in the visual arts. The Orlando Science Centre provides hands-on scientific and technological exhibits. All are worth a visit. Outside of Orlando, you will find some more fascinating sights. The Kennedy Space Centre, Cape Canaveral and Ocala National Forest can all be easily reached by car. There are also some excellent beaches within driving distance, as well as the Everglades. Orlando International Airport is 9 miles southeast of downtown Orlando and has regular trans-Atlantic flights as well as numerous domestic connections. Visitors can hire a car from the airport and use Florida’s efficient highways which are undoubtedly the best way to get around the city. Alternatively there are rail, bus and taxi links. |
