Rome Fuimicino Airport (FCO)Rome Fuimicino International Airport, also known as Leonardo da Vinci Airport, handles in excess of 30 million passengers a year, making it the busiest airport in Italy. The airport operates three terminals and is located 32kms from the city. All three terminals at Rome Fuimicino International Airport are housed under one roof and are connected by covered walkways. Domestic flights operate from terminal A, flights within the EU operate from terminal B, while all other international flights operate from terminal C. Passengers will find the airport well equipped with facilities. There are banking services, ATMs and currency exchanges spread throughout the three terminals. The airport also offers a wide choice of eateries, with food courts in terminals A and B and a large restaurant in terminal C. There are several smaller bars and cafés to choose from throughout the airport. Passengers requiring business services should head to the Executive Centre in terminal A. Here you will find a full range of business and conference facilities. Each terminal also provides a special lounge for disabled passengers. Getting to and from the airport Passengers driving to and from Rome Fuimicino International Airport should not encounter many problems as the route into the city is well signposted. The journey should take about 45 minutes via the Autostrada. There are several other options for getting into the city, with the most economical being the ‘Leonardo Express’ train which runs into the city every 30 minutes. Regular bus services also run from outside the terminals into the city every 30 minutes, while a night bus runs from the airport to Rome’s Central Station. Taxis are available outside every terminal 24 hours a day, but be careful as they are well known for their extortionate prices. The airport offers excellent parking facilities with several short and long term options available close to the terminal buildings. There are designated parking spaces in every car park for disabled passengers. Free shuttle buses and covered walkways provide links to all the airport’s car parks. |
