Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG)Located 14 miles northeast of the city, Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport is the largest air facility serving France's capital and sees a passenger throughput of around 200,000 people per day. The airport operates three terminals, which are interconnected by a free shuttle service. Terminal 1 serves the majority of flights to international destinations except those by Air France. Terminal 2 handles all Air France flights and those of airlines bound for EU destinations. The airport's third terminal is known as T9 and serves charter flights only. There are full service banks on hand in Terminals 1 and 2 plus bureau de change counters, ATMs and post offices. Medical clinics with vaccination services are also on offer in the terminals as well as pharmacies, a variety of shopping outlets including duty-free and eating and drinking establishments such as cafés, restaurants and bars. Business passengers will find facilities available in Terminal 1, including offices and meeting rooms with catering services on request. The VIP lounge offers photocopy, facsimile and video services. The airport is equipped with disabled facilities to European Union standards. Getting to and from the airport If you are driving to the airport, it is located north east of the centre of Paris. Passengers travelling in from the south can take the A1, those coming from the north should take the A6 and those from the west should take the A4. The journey from the centre of Paris can be driven in under an hour. A rapid rail service known as the RER runs every 15 minutes between the airport and the city centre making the connection in about 35 minutes. Buses operate between Place Charles de Gaulle and the airport every ten minutes and between Montparnasse and the airport every 30 minutes. A shuttle bus service operated by Roissybus also runs to the city centre at 15 minute intervals. Taxis are on hand outside of all three terminals for journeys to the city centre and beyond. Parking facilities with options for short and long stays are available in all of Paris Charles de Gaulle's terminals. Disabled passengers may reserve spaces at reduced rates in the short-term parking areas. |
