London West

Comprised of several different boroughs surrounding the River Thames, West London has a multitude of impressive attractions. The area is popular with tourists because of its excellent transport options and its close proximity to Heathrow Airport.

There’s quite a lot to do in West London. The variety of attractions brings in a lot of tourists. From riverside activities and quiet parks to numerous shopping areas and football stadiums, this area has an abundance of interesting sights.

Each separate borough has its own appeal and is well connected by the London Underground. Among the countless attractions is a guided tour of the BBC Television Centre, BBC’s headquarters, in Shepherd’s Bush. Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill is a large outdoor market full of interesting buys. Notting Hill itself is an excellent place to visit. It was made famous by the movie of the same name, and countless ‘stars’ live there. A visit to Chiswick House and Gardens makes a pleasing afternoon and a visit to Richmond Park is a must for nature lovers.

Alternatively, for a relaxing day out, the River Thames offers countless picnic spots, cycling, sailing and rowing. The famous King’s Road is popular with shoppers. Kensington Palace is both fascinating and fun for tourists to visit. The football clubs Chelsea and Fulham are big draws for football fans as both are based in West London.

Windsor and Eton are both easily reachable by car, and well worth the trip. Windsor is home to Windsor Palace and Eton is home to the famous boys’ school. Both have plenty of stunning sights to see and a wide variety of dining options.

Heathrow Airport, the busiest in the UK, is the nearest to West London. Hire car facilities are available at all London airports. There are also plenty of public transport options, including taxis, underground and overground trains and buses.
