Home > Carhire > United Kingdom > UK > Belfast Airport

Belfast International Airport is located 18 miles northwest of Belfast city centre. It serves nearly four million passengers a year and is the main gateway to Northern Ireland.

The airport has one single terminal that provides flights within the UK and charters to European and transatlantic destinations. Among the many airlines serving the airport is easyJet, which offers low cost airfares to many destinations.

Belfast International also offers transatlantic charter flights to Florida.

The terminal offers a bureau de change and ATMs are positioned throughout. Further amenities include postal facilities, telephones, a photo booth and a viewing gallery. A number of gift shops and a newsagent are located in the Departures Hall, while a duty-free shop can be found in International Departures. Further facilities include a mother and baby room and a children’s play area. There is an international food court and a bar in Departures, while there is a coffee shop in Arrivals.

Business passengers using the airport are permitted to check in by telephone, use TimeSaver ticketing facilities, reserve seats and gain hotel privileges. There is an executive lounge facility in the Departures lounge which can only be used by executive club members. Belfast International Airport is disabled friendly, with wheelchairs available from individual airlines, although passengers needing assistance are advised to mention any special needs they have when booking their flight.

If you are driving from Belfast, the airport can be reached by following the M2 motorway north, turning off at Junction 5. The airport is located off the A57, seven miles from Junction 5. Those arriving from the south and the west should take the Moira junction off the M1 motorway and then join the A26 at Nutts Corner junction.

An Airbus operates to and from the airport and Belfast city centre every 30 minutes from Monday to Saturday and every 30 to 60 minutes on Sundays. People travelling to the airport should board at Glengall street and disembark in front of the passenger terminal on arrival. The nearest railway station is six miles from the airport in Antrim, from where connections can be made to Belfast, Lisburn and Londonderry. A taxi stand offering officially approved taxis is located outside Arrivals.

Once at the airport, 24-hour car parks are situated within walking distance of the passenger terminal. The airport has a short-term, a long-term and a holiday car park.
